![]() ![]() Toward the end of the day I started to hit neutral almost every time while trying to shift from 1st to 2nd AND 2nd to 1st. ![]() It was pretty tight stuff, staying mainly in 1st and 2nd and really working the clutch. I'm normally a track guy, but my brother rides single track, so I hit some trails with him yesterday. I've only ridden it for about 6.5 hours, but so far it's been an amazing bike. I recently picked up a leftover (new) 2018 350 SX-F. I'm so bummed a 2017 KTM I have 10K wrapped up in, has me missing my 2006 CRF - Thats NOT RIGHT!. ![]() I actually had to take my brand new KTM back to he dealer for this, (dealer to remain unnamed at this point) they have been very good to me so far! (never had a dealer work on my bike in my life - I've always done all my own work - Honda probably would've laughed at me) it now has 10 hours on it and it's 5 mos out of warranty, so far my dealer has been very cooperative about getting me to call KTM US, and trying to fix it - they have never heard of the problem, and really can't test it at the shop without a dragstrip - they haven't said it's going to cost me - but they haven't said it won't, we'll see what happens next week. ![]() Only under load do I not have 4th or 5th. The bummer is i can't take it to the dealer and complain because if you test ride it on the street it works. I used to go to the line on a 10 year old bike pretty much KNOWING I was going to get the holeshot with my bigbore 490 - Not anymore, now I come out mid pack (if I'm lucky) and get swallowed up while I fight my tranny. Why does KTM let these leave the factory like this? and how come all my KTM friends have never heard of this? I'm wishing I never sold my 06 CRF!! I have zero confidence in a brand new 2017 KTM 450. I have a 1/4' round file but it looks too big I'm going to get a smaller round file another $16 gasket, drain my oil, pull my clutch, remove my shift shaft and try it again. I can see I needed to use a round file and make a hook to match the bars profile in the shift drum. I didnt pay close enough attention to the video and just kind of filed a sharper notch in the plate with square file. OK I tried the filing trick and I have 4th 70% of the time but still have issues grabbing 5th under load. I will be doing this and hoping for the best. Brand new SXF450 7 hours and i have never had 4th or 5th gear unless i let off the gas, clutch it and hit zero bumps under no load. ![]()
